Report: Texas elementary school students forced to pull down pants for inspection

A Texas school district this week investigated claims that students were asked to pull down their pants after personnel found that someone had apparently defecated in the gymnasium, according to a local TV report.
Here’s what happened, according to WFAA, the Dallas-Fort Worth ABC affiliate: About two dozen elementary school students in Gustine, a town of less than 500 people, were reportedly separated by gender into two rooms, then asked to lower their pants.
Maria Medina, the mother of one of the children who was involved in the inspection, told the station that the students were asked to “pull down their pants to check them to see if they could find anything” because teachers at the school had “been finding poop on the gym floor.”
“I was furious … I mean, I was furious,” Medina told WFAA. “If you can’t do your job or you don’t know what you’re doing, you need to be fired. You shouldn’t be here.”

Her daughter told WFAA: “I felt uncomfortable, and I didn’t want to do it. I felt like they violated my privacy.” The girl added, “I said I didn’t want to, but I was told I had to because all the kids had to.”
Gustine Independent School District Superintendent Ken Baugh told the station he had hoped to have the investigation completed by Wednesday. It’s unclear if it has already wrapped up, as Baugh didn’t immediately return a call from The Post seeking comment Thursday.
WFAA reported that “Baugh said early into the investigation his understanding is that the children were told to lower their pants just a little.” Baugh told the station: “That’s not appropriate, and we do not condone that.”
